Andrea Borges

Allow me to introduce myself:
Andrea Borges, professional conference interpreter

Committed, cooperative and constructive – because my work is my passion.

Freelance conference interpreter since 2008, based in Cologne, Germany
“A” language (native): German
“B” languages (active languages): English, (Brazilian) Portuguese
Education: Diploma degree in Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpretation from the University of Heidelberg, Germany
Member of the Association of Conference Interpreters (VKD), a division of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) , and of AIIC (International Association of Conference Interpreters)
Volunteer work: Association of Conference Interpreters’ regional officer, responsible for Region West I (Cologne) and volunteer mentor in the VKD program for junior interpreters
Specialty areas: I have many. One of the greatest skills of a professional interpreter is the ability to quickly become acquainted with new subject material and master its specialized terminology within a short time. As a result, my areas of expertise are as varied as my professional experience – from A as in abrasives, C as in cytology, R as in renewable energy technologies to Z as in zero-coupon bonds.
